Ángel Marcos. La anarquía del espacio (The Anarchy of Space). Solo exhibition. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Cuba
(Desde: 21 / 07 / 2023, Hasta: 08 / 10 / 2023)
The National Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition ‘The Anarchy of Space’ by Spanish photographer Ángel Marcos, this Friday, 21 July, at 4:00 p.m., in the Transitory Room of the Universal Art Building. The collection on display includes both previously unseen and historic pieces, offering a comprehensive overview of this artist’s work over several years and also includes installations and video projections. The exhibition is curated by the director of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Jorge Fernández Torres, with the assistance of Margarita González Lorente.
According to the curator, this collection of works ‘stands as a cartography that questions the dynamics established to legitimise the correlations between centre and periphery’. The artist, as Fernández Torres points out, ‘presents us with the front and back of urban environments. The disproportionate growth of megacities and the abandonment of those people who are impacted by gentrification, together with the “ad hoc” constructions of these low-income populations and the way in which they structure their living spaces.’
