The first characteristic with a “doctrinal” significance that “leaps out at us” from this (sub)set of photographs, is the sobriety of the morphologies reflected, almost their asceticism. This sobriety or asceticism is undoubtedly selected by the author, but it is not prepared by him. […] The sober morphologies selected are shown to us set on flat land, or on a straight (or nearly straight) line of horizon.
