Hints
Hints are made in order to track down events happening sometimes, although occasionally these only appear in their creator’s mind. In the end it doesn’t matter how they have been engendered, because the result itself, even if pretended, generates the trace of what happened. These are universal objects which, in their natural disposition, can produce certain vibrations that enable us to recognize previously lived experiences.
Though the objects “Hints” represents what happened, what didn’t happen, what is or will be happening and what could have happened.
In nature’s sites resembling temples or natural altars different evidences of relationships, aspirations, desires and realities have been “installed” to tell us stories about memories, about how these have repercussions on ourselves and about how all this is represented by objects: situations filled with realities or past thoughts, performed on generic but isolated settings and always following definite criteria of solitude.
Ángel Marcos has always been making incursions into the complicated word of desires. He has thoroughly worked to show how these desires sometimes are manipulated, and he has also built images approaching a certain magical realism. In order to do so he has appropriated the credibility provided by the photography using it simultaneously for the creation of images or for the grasping of situations, once the setting has been thoroughly designed.
In “Hints” Ángel Marcos has distributed his personal iconography in pieces of natural spaces according to a very deep reflection on how these objects play with our memory. In his relationship with the past he sharply makes us take a stand within the scopes of what is the represented and occupy the present, the past and the future of a series of hardly avoidable actions.
This work gives the impression that the author has carried out some kind of meticulous travel throughout a very well-known geography, a travel throughout a landscape where he seems to find things to photograph, but such things have been discovered and placed there beforehand as an offering to those “sections” of our affection which everyone keeps untouched and more or less hidden.
